MICRO SILICA

Micro Silica, also known as Silica Fume, is a by-product of silicon and ferrosilicon alloy production. It is an ultrafine, amorphous form of silicon dioxide (SiO₂), with particles approximately 100 times smaller than cement grains. Our Micro Silica contains 95% pure SiO₂, offering high performance in industrial applications.

Cement and Concrete Industry

In cementitious applications, Micro Silica acts as   a   pozzolanic material, significantly improving concrete   properties:

  • Increased Compressive Strength: Reacts with calcium hydroxide to form additional C-S-H gel, making concrete stronger and denser.

  • Reduced Permeability: Offers superior resistance to water and chemical ingress, making it ideal for dams, bridges, and tunnels.

  • Enhanced Durability: Extends service life in aggressive environments such as marine or sulfate-rich areas.

  • Improved Workability: Helps in producing high-performance and self-compacting concretes.

Refractory Industry

Micro Silica is a key additive in refractory castables, offering several benefits:

  • Improved Strength & Durability: Enhances cold and hot strength, increasing the lifespan of refractory linings.

  • Reduced Permeability: Finer particles fill in pores, resulting in dense, low-porosity structures.

  • Thermal Stability: Enhances resistance to thermal shock and slag attack.

  • High Temperature Performance: Suitable for linings in furnaces, ladles, and tundishes in steel, glass, and non-ferrous metal industries.

Usage Areas

1. Concrete Industry

  • High-Performance Concrete: Micro silica is used to produce high-strength concrete and improve its durability and longevity.

  • Marine Structures: It enhances the resistance of concrete to chloride penetration, making it ideal for marine environments.

  • Bridges and Highways: It is used to improve the mechanical properties and durability of the concrete used in bridges and highways.

  • Industrial Floors: Improves the abrasion resistance and reduces permeability, making it suitable for heavy-duty industrial floors.

2. Refractory and Ceramic Products

  • Refractory Castables: Micro silica is used to produce refractory castables with high strength and low porosity, which can withstand high temperatures.

  • Ceramics: It is used to enhance the mechanical properties and durability of ceramic products.

3. Oil and Gas Industry

  • Well Cementing: Used as an additive in oil well cementing to improve the strength and durability of the cement under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions

4. Construction Industry

  • Shotcrete: Micro silica is used in shotcrete to improve its bond strength, reduce rebound, and enhance durability.

  • Repair Mortars: It is used in repair mortars to improve their bond strength and durability.

5. Chemical Industry

  • Silicon Carbide Production: Micro silica is used as a raw material in the production of silicon carbide.

6. Rubber and Plastics

  • Filler Material: It is used as a filler material to improve the mechanical properties and durability of rubber and plastic products.

7. Environmental Applications

  • Waste Treatment: Micro silica is used in treating industrial effluents and solid waste to reduce heavy metal contamination and improve the stability of the treated material.
